Aim at the End
If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time
This past weekend, while coaching my daughter in basketball, she asked a question about shooting, and an idea came to mind. I pointed to the back of the hoop, specifically the rim.
And I told her to aim at the back of the rim.
She paused for a moment, then she agreed to try it, and immediately she started making the shots. The premise is this: if the ball hits the spot I pointed at, it will likely be a basket. It works the same in life.
If you haven’t achieved your goal, I would ask: “What are you aiming for?”
Are you hoping your business does well? Or are you aiming at a number? An income number or customer number? Fortune 500 companies have income forecasting, and they get much closer than not. Focus on the end and never lose sight of that.
The end is what we want to happen.
I wanted to increase my savings and investments, so I created an altered screenshot and put the amounts I wanted to accumulate. When I did it, the account went up, and I had more than doubled it in a few months.
