Do You Have Systems in Place?

The Oxford dictionary defines a system as a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.

Think of a system as multiple pieces working together.

A financial success system is some combination of spending less and making more money.

A health improvement system likely includes eating better and exercising more.

Most people want a better life, more money, better health, and relationships. As a result, we chase those outcomes.

Sometimes we get it what we want, sometimes we don’t.

Taking action is just a part of the story; the bigger story is building a system that works.

Why am I talking about systems?

Morning Routine is a part of a system. Are there things you do each day to prepare yourself to win?

Do you have a system when it comes to your work? Or are you scattershot when it comes to working tasks?

If you are in business, do you have a system that can bring in clients? Do you have a systematic way to get your message out?

The type of system I am talking about creating can produce predictable results. If you desire more clients, then you need strategies to obtain that. If you want more followers, the same rule applies.

An example would be to produce a video three times a weekend and then having ads go out simultaneously with similar topics. One thing isn’t more effective than the other, but there is a systematic way of operations.

Everything is predictable and repeatable.

Putting systems in place takes time and effort, but ultimately, that energy will pay dividends. Having a system accomplishes three things:

  • Brings clarity to the process
  • Organizes efforts; you aren’t trying to do everything but doing more of the right things.
  • Works for you and not against you
  • Creates repeatable actions that produce results consistently.

If you want to spend time doing what you do best and less time doing admin work, SOPs are something you should consider.

These process documents are a part of your business system.

An entrepreneur I followed once said that you don’t make the money the business does.

The stronger your system, the more efficient your business and work-life becomes.

Systems, however, aren’t just for business; they apply to life, too. In my next article, I will talk about system-building for every area and why it’s worth investing.
