Embrace Being Multidimensional

Some people are too gifted to be in a box

For years, I’ve had many ideas, almost to the point that I wouldn’t share what I was thinking with people.

I come from a generation (the last, really) where people told you to pick something and go with that.

I understand why that advice sounds valid, and it’s not 100% wrong.

But what if you are multidimensional? I fall in that category. You can’t put me in a box. I’m a coach; I teach, work full time, write about sports, and make websites. I’m a husband, father, son, brother, friend. I wear a lot of hats.

So do you.

So why are we comfortable being in a box when you were never supposed to be in one?

I was reading a Bible verse yesterday that says:

“And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food.” (Ezekiel 47:12)

All kinds of trees.

That stuck with me.

On Medium, there is all kinds of content. People are writing about relationships, race relations, Crypto, Ukraine, Web 3, and the upcoming recession. Trees, if you will.

All of that could come from the same person. And why shouldn’t it? If you’ve had multiple experiences, you couldn’t just speak from one; you have insight into them all.

And that’s what makes you, you.

You may be a relationship writer as a focus, and there’s nothing wrong with being focused. But if you got a crypto article idea, you need to write it.

Why?

Because some 49-year-old guy watching his 401k tank right now needs to read it, he needs to know he can invest in something other than traditional stocks and bonds.

It’s ok not to have a path even when society says you should have one. Because your life is so multidimensional that one road won’t take you there.

You are too unique to be in a box, so don’t let anyone put you there.

Embrace being multidimensional.
