Get to a Place of Certainty before Making Decisions
Clarity is created
Making decisions is an unavoidable part of life. If you have the luxury of putting it off, then you should until you can get more clarity. But if you don’t, I learned a way to get more clarity on the fly.
Before my family and I went to New York for the holidays, I had to set my fantasy football lineup for the semifinals. My quarterback, Jalen Hurts, had gotten injured 2 weeks before, and he was one of the main reasons I made it so far in my fantasy league.
Without Hurts playing, I had to choose between his backup, Gardner Minshew, who hadn’t played all year, or Justin Herbert, one of the top young QBs in the league, but wasn’t having a great season.
I went back and forth about the decision and after a few days to think about it, I still hadn’t made up my mind.
Before leaving for the airport, I said to myself, “I always make good decisions”. I said that over and over again.
I made the decision right before the game started, I was going with Minshew, even though conventional wisdom would suggest otherwise.
Minshew ended up having the better game and was the difference between winning and losing that week.
