Life Becomes What You Say It Is

Start paying attention to your words

Taffi Dollar, the wife of famous televangelist Creflo Dollar, once said, “if you aren’t saying anything, you aren’t creating anything.”

When I heard that saying years ago, it may reevaluate the way I used my words.

I, like most people, ignored the things I said; I was careless with my words, and that caused a lot of unnecessary struggle in my life.

If there is something you want to do, be or have, the first step is to talk about it as if it has already happened.

If you want to get a new job, start telling yourself you got the job. Is this delusion? Maybe, but it’s a healthy form of fantasy.

When you tell yourself that a goal is already done, you go into maintenance mode. You are no longer trying to get it; you have it.

You are relaxed, and that is what allows the thing you want to come into your life. Anxiety disturbs your soul.

Why is that important?

The Bible says that we succeed as our soul succeeds. When your emotions are out of control, it isn’t easy to get anything done or make any real-life progress.

The best way to calm yourself down is to talk yourself down.

I say things like this.

“I am calm.”

“This project is going to be completed and completed well.”

“I am doing my best.”

When you start talking yourself into calmness, you can do whatever you need to do and do it well.

Another thing I like to do is talk from the place I want to be. For instance, if I want to run at a defined pace or time, I say, “I run a 12-minute mile.”

Of course, I have to do it. But the likelihood of me achieving that goal goes up exponentially because of my self-talk.

When you speak, you create. Never forget that.

Here are some guidelines I use that might help you too

  1. Only speak what you want to be true — If you are three months behind on the rent, the reaction is to panic. But start getting control of your mind and emotions with your words. Say things like “My rent is current” or “I am current with all my bills. If you got a bad report from the doctor, try speaking the solution. “My numbers are right; my weight is at a good number.”
  2. Speak any character traits in the present tense — I am a loving and understanding person. I am very organized. I am very detail-oriented. You want to keep these traits forever, so you say those types of affirmations in the present tense. Continue to speak these, and you will start creating them in your life.
  3. Speak any one time events or outcomes in the past tense — I passed my driver’s test. I went to Dubai first class. My business made $25k last month. When you say things like “I’m going to fly to Miami,” you are putting it off in the future; you want it to happen sooner than later.

Learning how to create can be work but’s also fun. To learn more, click here to get more material on self-talk.
