Make a Decision, Already
Part of winning and taking control of your mind is making a decision. If you’ve ever been behind someone in a drive-thru, you understand what I’m talking about.
Indecisiveness is a significant impediment to success until you decide. You stay in a perpetual fog, wishing and hoping because you didn’t make a decision. It’s permission to move forward.
Just because you need to do something, whether it’s losing weight, getting out of debt, or changing jobs, doesn’t mean you’re going to do it.
You have to decide.
Most people are afraid to make decisions because of a fear of failure. This fear originated from well-meaning parents/grandparents and authority figures and is enforced first at school and then in the workplace.
Failure is terrible; that’s the message.
And if you fail, you lose positions, scholarships, opportunities, relationships, and money, to name a few.
That can be scary.
Here’s the thing.
You are going to get it wrong sometimes, and that is OK. Failure isn’t an option; it’s a part of life and nothing we should fear.
Humans underestimate their ability to course correct. Most of us are making better decisions than we did five years ago. Learning from your mistakes not only corrects them but usually prevents further missteps.
A grenade explodes within 3–5 seconds once you pull the pin. There is no time for indecision unless you want your hand blown off (or worse).
When you set a goal, immediately decide to do whatever is necessary to achieve the goal, and do not go back on your decision.
Clarity will come after you decide and go all in.
