Never Satisfied: The Jimmy Butler Mindset
The Miami Heat are currently playing my beloved Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA playoffs, and though I’m hopeful., I’m realistic that we may not make it past the Heat.
One big reason for that is Jimmy Butler, Miami’s star player.
Butler was a 76er two years ago (as pictured above), and when he decided not to re-sign with the team, I was livid.
I knew the type of player he was and is. Butler is considered one of the best players in the league and has been for a long time.
Butler is a six-time all-star, and virtually no one saw that coming. He did not go into the league with high expectations. He was drafted with the 30th pick in the first round out of Marquette, which has produced some NBA standouts, most notably Dwyane Wade, but is not known as a college basketball power like Duke, Kansas, or North Carolina.
I like Butler so much that I chose to write about him because he never seems satisfied; he’s constantly pushing to make himself better. That doesn’t always win you fans, especially in your peer group.
Butler famously had an outburst at teammates while in Minnesota, precipitating his trade to Philadelphia. The takeaway from the incident was Butler’s frustration with the lack of motivation amongst his teammates. He…
