Make Mental Preparation a Daily Habit

Each day brings its own unique challenges, and even though you can’t prepare for everything, you can prepare your mind to be ready for anything.

If you watch a sporting event before the actual event starts, you will notice some athletes walking around with headphones on. Sometimes, they listen to music, but others listen to mental audio, reminders, or mantras.

Dennis Rodman would listen to audio saying repeatedly that he was the best rebounder in the NBA, and when played, he was precisely that. In retirement, he is considered the best rebounder of all time, even though bigger and stronger players were going against him.

When you mentally prepare for your day, it’s like a game. There are many aspects to consider. But you know what you need to do for it to be a success.

Most of your time is spent in practice or preparation mode if you’re in school. 80–90% of school is practice and preparation. You are studying for a test or writing a paper.

This is a different mental preparation than taking a test or writing a paper. But you still need to prepare daily.
