Re-coding the mind to improve your finances — Step 3 — Clearing your Mental Hard Drive
Whenever you upgrade your computer software, you delete the old version before the new program can run effectively, in most cases.
Step 3 of recoding your mind for financial improvement is all about cleaning your mental hard drive of those old, outdated limiting beliefs that keep you broke and money away from you.
I want you to try something:
Think about a time when you were broke and struggling financially. You had little to no money on you or in your account.
Now try to recollect what you were thinking and saying during that time.
Did the thoughts sound like this?
“I can’t catch a break.”
“Things are tight right now.”
“I don’t have any extra money right now.”
“I can’t hold on to any money.”
“No one is hiring.”
“No one is giving me a shot.”
“No employers are returning my calls.”
“We haven’t gotten any hits yet.”
“Business is slow this month.”
“Business has been slow all year”
“I can’t afford that right now.”
“That’s too much money.”
“I’m waiting on some money.”
Of course, we verbalize whatever we are thinking over and over. So saying these things is even worse. Let’s look at a few examples of these thoughts.
“I don’t have any extra money right now.”
“I can’t afford that right now.”
Now is the only reality; it’s the only place we reside. Every thought and word is like an email to your subconscious. The subconscious reads this email and acts on it as a rule.
The mind acts to make sure you don’t have extra money. All of a sudden, people show up needing money. An old bill comes that you can’t ignore. You make a poor decision and overspend on something. Next thing you know, you are out of money right now. We are living a series of nows.
Never say that again.
“Business is slow this month.”
Usually, people say this in the middle of the month. The month isn’t over yet. But they’ve already declared that business is slow. If you say that on March 12th, you are sinking the other 19 days because you said business is slow this month.
“Business is slow all year.”
This one is worse
Now you are telling the subconscious mind that business is slow all year. Imagine saying this in February. You got ten more months of slow business, my friend.
Let’s not make any more negative declarations about 2022, please.
We say many more awful things about our finances, but I’ll spare you.
Fortunately, the process of removing these thoughts is easy. However, you should repeat it for 30 days minimum (preferably longer) to ensure they never come back.
I use the following affirmation to remove unwanted thoughts.
“I command my mind to remove all negative thoughts about money obtained from birth to this day. I renounce all past and current thoughts, beliefs, and actions of financial scarcity, poverty, and lack from this day forward.”
The first day you do this, I would say it seven times and then record yourself saying it on your phone voice memo app.
Then listen to it repeatedly so that it can drop into your subconscious mind, which will then do the heavy lifting.
Expect some resistance. You’ve had these beliefs for a long time, and they may not leave quietly. But as you insist that the negative thoughts go, they will.
Now that you are removing damaging financial thoughts, it’s time to replace them with empowering beliefs in Step 4.
