We all have things we don’t want to or feel like doing; most of the time, this is labeled as procrastination, which isn’t entirely wrong. But I think we accept that we procrastinate and leave it there. But the habit’s never fully addressed.

Point #1 — Task Avoidance — Our minds are conditioned to procrastinate from a very young age, and we live in a society where more people say things that make us better about putting things off.

The fact remains that procrastination usually does not lead to success, and it can cost you time, money, or both. We can get into the weeds as to why you’re putting things off; honestly, there could be 100 reasons. The goal is to fix it. Developing core mental skills eliminates procrastination.

How would I apply the Playbook to task avoidance?

Mindset: Desire — I want this thing done more than undone, so I desire to finish, and I harness that

Decide — I make a conscious decision to finish this task

Confidence — I believe I can, and I will complete this

Vision — I see it done
