Use Negativity to Your Advantage
You can’t make a positive image without a negative one
Negativity gets a bad rap in personal development and self-help circles. I talk bad about it too. But I think it’s important to understand the role of negativity in the creative process.
We are all creating daily, whether good, bad, or indifferent. Most people are making what they don’t want and (surprise!) unhappy with their creation.
The biggest reason people create what they don’t want is a misuse of negativity. Negative experiences show up to inspire you to create what you want.
Negativity creates desire.
Desire is the first part of any creative process. Sometimes you desire something, and you don’t know why. You want it, but you can’t explain why you want it.
It could be an experience, a car, a relationship, whatever it is, that desire took over, and you started figuring out ways to get it.
And most of the time, you end up with it.
There is leverage and power in negativity.
How many people, when they find out their spouse or significant other is leaving, decide to get in shape or improve their appearance suddenly?
