Your Mental Diet Determines the Majority of Your Results

This week I decided to go on a detox (which is any food lover’s nightmare). I want to get back on track health-wise since I am not 20 anymore.

I’ve long heard the annoying but accurate advice that diet is more important than exercise; most of your physical results come from what you eat. I’ve got the exercise thing down no problem, but going vegan doesn’t excite me. Nor should it.

As I contemplated trading in my Chick-Fil-a biscuit for an avocado smoothie, I thought about results in other areas of our lives and why people are often stuck.

I’ll use business success as an example.

A couple of years back, my wife and I went to 2 seminars in a roughly 30-day time frame; one was like a Coachella for personal development gurus; Gary Vaynerchuk and Tony Robbins were among the speakers. I had been going back and forth for months (years, really) about starting a business, and in one day, I felt like I should go full-time in my business (and almost did!). After spending all day listening to people like that, you feel like you can do anything.

I had momentum for maybe two weeks, and then I was right back where I started.

We went to a second seminar with lesser-known teachers a few weeks later, but the effect was the same. I said…
