Your Monday Morning Practice

Try this to shift back into weekday mode

I am writing a long-form post on entropy (releasing later this week), and I thought about how disorder can creep in.

As I will explain in the post, the disorder is a constant in the universe; you can’t stop it; you can only work to minimize and mitigate it through constant order-producing activity.

If you don’t bring order to a situation (your work, home, business, or finances), the disorder will take over as a rule. When you start the week, create order so the right things happen.

  1. Your morning routine is critical — One of the things that changed my life was creating a morning routine. It’s even more important when you start the week off. Or come off vacation. It signals to the brain that it’s time to lock back in.
  2. Get back into work mode — coming off the weekend where most of us did what we wanted without structure, we have to shift our mindset back to work. Attitude is critical; I hate aspects of my job, but how I see it is what I do from Monday to Friday makes Saturday and Sunday possible. The goal here is to bring structure back into the fold. I make my schedule, look at budgets, and do anything else I need for the week.
